Venue of the Week - Caledonian Club London
The Caledonian Club situated in the heart of London's fashionable Belgravia district and operates as both a Private Members Club and a unique events venue. The versatility and unique style of the clubs' rooms, the private entrance at 9A Halkin Street exclusively for function guests, together with the experience of the team, ensures truly memorable occasions.

History of Caledonian Club London

The Caledonian Club was originally founded in 1891 as a proprietary club, and the club - as it is today - was formed in 1917 under the energetic leadership of the Marquis Tullibardine.  The Marquis appealed to Members to make it the representative national club and headquarters for Scottish nationals in London.  One of the major attractions of the Club is its discrete character, whilst founding aims have continued to be achieved and maintained.
The Club moved from St James’s during World War II to its current Clubhouse in Halkin Street, which opened in October 1946 and is named after Halkin Castle, the Duke of Westminster’s seat in Flintshire.
 Stuart Room at Caledonian Club
The Caledonian Club was built in 1907 as a private residence of Hugh Morrison to the design of Detmar Blow, and Number 9 was the last mansion house of its kind to be built in London. The elegant simplicity of the exterior is neatly juxtaposed by sympathetic internal proportions. The Club is constantly evolving in line with membership expectations. In 2006, a new four-storey wing was officially opened by HM The Queen, accompanied by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh. In addition, The Caledonian Club has 39 bedrooms for those guests attending an event at the club.
Famous writer Stephen McGinty described the club as the "Best damned club in London", writing in The Scotsman in July 2012.
If you are wondering where the word Caledonian originates, it's from Latin and is the name the Romans gave to Scotland.

Event Facilities at the Caledonian Club

The club has 8 event spaces of various shapes and sizes, the largest of which is the Johnnie Walker, which can accommodate up to a maximum of 200 delegates in a theatre style set-up.
