San Francisco is definitely one of the coolest cities out there. I said it and I stand by it.
It’s well known for many aspects – such as its unique architecture, the steep hills and fun cable cars – and landmarks – such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the former Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary.
Of course, there’s much more to it – a booming tech hub, the famous art scene, a history of rock, jazz, and blues music, African American heritage, cultural diversity in general (enjoy the Chinatown and Japantown neighbourhoods), a strong LGBT community, and so much more.
Oh yes, and the fog… which has its own sort of charm.
Whether you’re going for business or leisure, there are plenty of things to do – because even if you’re in San Francisco for business, you’re going to make some time to visit the city, right? So, apart from the obvious landmarks mentioned above, what can you do in San Francisco?
Firstly, we have to mention the nightlife, as it combines delicious drinks with culture – if you choose to visit a bar with some history and good music. You should also explore the diverse neighbourhoods with their unique personalities, and of course, dine out in some of the city’s amazing restaurants.
Events in San Francisco
San Francisco is also a great city for events, as indicated by the multitude of events that regularly take place in the city (you know, in a world without COVID-19).
And by the way, until the time comes when you can travel to San Francisco, here are some San Francisco Zoom backgrounds for your online meetings. You’re welcome.
The warm San Francisco culture translates into world-class hospitality when it comes to planning and hosting an event. The delicious food is always going to be well appreciated by guests, and you also have a variety of fantastic events venues to choose from. One of our favourites is Grand Hyatt at SFO. What makes it special? Let’s take a look:
Grand Hyatt at SFO opened last autumn (happy 1 year anniversary!) and is San Francisco Airport’s only on-site hotel. Just step off the AirTrain and straight into the hotel.
The location is convenient to any business traveller, as it’s close to both San Francisco and the Silicon Valley.
And while we’re talking about the airport, here’s a fun fact: SFO stands out as the first international airport to feature a museum. Visitors can enjoy 30 galleries showcasing various exhibitions. We can’t think of anything more ‘San Francisco’ than having such an artistic airport.
Grand Hyatt at SFO ambience
Of course, Grand Hyatt at SFO doesn’t fall behind – the hotel features a stunning art collection curated by the San Francisco Arts Commission. Unlike many airport hotels which can be quite generic, Grand Hyatt at SFO wanted to offer a taste of the local culture.
It also aims to create an atmosphere of tranquillity, which becomes clear as soon as you walk through the 'eucalyptus grove' in the lobby, with its natural wood tables, neutral tones, and local art.
Events at Grand Hyatt at SFO
Apart from the fabulous vibe that guests will enjoy, the hotel stands out as an events venue. Grand Hyatt at SFO offers over 1300 sqm of flexible event space to suit any event, from small corporate meetings to large scale receptions. The hotel is equipped with the latest tech in all its event spaces, to enable you to organise the perfect event.
The meeting spaces can set the tone of the event, and in this case, you’re in for a delight: the meeting rooms are filled with natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, which also offer fantastic views of the airport and the jumbo jets. The design of the event spaces was inspired by the bay, with patterns and colours reminding you of the calming sea.
We also love the fact that Grand Hyatt at SFO offers day-use rooms, which can be of great help for delegates flying in for a quick event, without staying overnight!
