Set in 260 acres of North-West London, Harrow School has been educating the elite since 1572. Harrow School has 9 venues available to hire for events and film with capacities varying from just 8 people to 550.
Harrow School has provided the backdrop to many a feature film, drama or photoshoot over the past twenty years. The School has also been the scene of glossy magazine shoots for GQ, Vogue Burberry and Penguin Originals, and the subject of historical documentaries.
Harry Potter takes his first lesson with Professor Flitwick in the ‘Wingardium Leviosa’ scene in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This is based in our 402 year old original classroom, the Fourth Form Room. The Fourth Form Room is the spiritual heart of Harrow School. The original Classroom dates back to 1615 and is where Harrow School first opened its doors. This venue is only available for the most select of filming opportunities, with all proceeds from its hire going directly to a Bursary for a Boy to attend Harrow. The Fourth Form Room is located within the Old Schools Building which offers superb views of Harrow on the Hill.
YouTube’s Rewind: The Shape of 2017 was a really fun shoot held at the end of last year. Welcoming YouTube stars to have a gunge and slime fight on our beautiful Chapel Terrace was a fairly new experience for us, but it was incredibly fun.
“Harrow School was an attractive location for the YouTube Rewind project because of the historic nature of the site, its size, and seclusion from the congestion of central London. We were looking for somewhere distinctively English, with building exteriors that were centuries old, and enough open space to fly a camera-drone, without breaking the strict rules governing drone flight. There was another feature film shooting onsite at the same time, but the sheer size of the school made that possible without any clashes, and the team at Harrow School Enterprises were super helpful throughout.” Jamie Lindsay, Location Manager.
The Crown regularly shoot here at Harrow School, but we are most famously known for the cheeky portrayal of another similar school in Season 2.
“We filmed at Harrow for Seasons 1 & 2 of The Crown and it was a fantastically positive experience both times. There is a vast range of locations at the School ranging from the amazing lecture halls and dining rooms to more unusual ones such as the black painted rackets courts which we made use of on Season 2. The staff are incredibly helpful with our, sometimes unusual, requests and the large site makes the logistics of large scale filming very easy indeed. Hopefully we will be back on Seasons 3 and beyond….” Pat Karam, Supervising Location Manager, The Crown, Netflix

Howards End based much of their shoot here at Harrow School, using everything from private mansions, our private homes and historical Grade Listed Buildings as well as a large unit base for two weeks.
“Playground Television filmed a number of scene for the forth coming BBC production of 'Howards End’ at Harrow School. The drama is set in 1906 and it needed quite a number of period locations, I had known of the existence of the Speech Room from previous research, so I recce’d the hall which secured us our Concert Hall for the story. I was then taken on a tour of the other buildings and by the end of the day had sourced another four locations for the production. We had three shoot days on site with the capacity to handle over a hundred extras in the unit base. Carly and her team were brilliant, with intimate knowledge of the school buildings, a full understanding of our requirements (nothing was impossible!) and an on-site unit base made for three fun shoot days at the School. I highly recommend speaking to Harrow School Enterprises for the known and unknown locations in your production.”
